From Trauma to Peace: A T.I.M.E. Journey of Faith and Healing By Dr. Gigi Sabbat
Introduction: Your Health Matters
I encourage you to pause and acknowledge where your health is today — mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. You cannot change what you refuse to face.
If you have experienced trauma, challenges, or painful life events, I encourage you to face them head on. The results you desire will only happen when you take action.
I know this to be true — because I have lived it.
The T.I.M.E. Framework for Health & Wellness
T.I.M.E. is the framework that guided my healing journey — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
T — Trauma
At eight years old, after being sexually assaulted by two individuals, I developed what I later recognized as a heart block. This traumatic experience changed the trajectory of my life.
Years later, after experiencing sexual assault again as an adult, I realized the depth of unresolved trauma I was carrying. I had to acknowledge it, face it, and surrender it to God.
I — Injury & Marathons
Trauma impacted not only my emotions but also my physical health. I had a knee injury prior to 2023. Instead of allowing pain to define me, I chose discipline and growth.
My fitness timeline:
- Knee injury (prior to 2023)
- January 29, 2023 – 5K
- January 7, 2024 – 10K
- May 25, 2024 – Half Marathon
- January 5, 2025 – Full Marathon
- June 2–22, 2025 – Coach Misty Ritchie’s 21-Day Fitness Challenge
None of this happened overnight. It happened one step at a time.
M — Mindset
After trauma, you have two options: live positively with God first, or allow trauma to pull you into negativity.
My faith shaped my mindset. I chose to believe that God brought me through before and could do it again. Mindset truly matters. Healing begins when you decide not to stay stuck.
E — Exercise (Small Steps)
Exercise became symbolic of my healing — small, consistent steps forward.
If you are wondering where to start:
1. Write down one area where trauma has impacted your life.
2. Pray and surrender that area to God.
3. Take one small physical action — walk for 10 minutes, stretch, hydrate.
Small steps create momentum. Momentum creates change. Change leads to peace.
Additional Pillars: Faith & Peace
Faith carried me through the toughest seasons of my life. Forgiveness freed my heart. Healing removed the heart block trauma created.
Someone once asked me what it feels like on the other side of facing trauma head on. My answer was one word: Peace.
That is what I want for you — peace.
Final Encouragement
Do not allow trauma or life’s challenges to dictate your health or your future.
Keep the faith. Protect your peace. Take action.
I believe in you.
Warm regards,
Dr. Gigi Sabbat
